Sincere Friendship Is A Need

By: Adlan Abd. Aziz

When the prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h. migrated from Mecca to Medina along with his companions, the Muhajirin, they were greeted by his new companions in Medina, the Ansar. Not just a mere official greeting, but a sincere one. An unbelievable kind of reception and kindness.A true unbelievable friendship the world have ever seen.

Can we achieve that kind of sincerity in our friendship? Let's read the verses below together, hoping that you'll feel what i feel....

Al-Quran
Surah al-Hasyr

Verse 8 and 9
Translation : Abdullah Yusuf Ali

(And there is also a share in this booty) for the poor emigrants, who were expelled from their homes and their property, seeking Bounties from Allâh and to please Him. and helping Allâh (i.e. helping His religion) and His Messenger (Muhammad SAW). Such are indeed the truthful (to what they say). (8) And (it is also for) those who, before them, had homes (in Al-Madinah) and had adopted the Faith, love those who emigrate to them, and have no jealousy in their breasts for that which they have been given (from the booty of Banu An-Nadîr), and give them (emigrants) preference over themselves, even though they were in need of that. And whosoever is saved from his own covetousness, such are they who will be the successful

That is what we need in our life. Not a fake, hypocrite friends that only know you but hardly know your feelings, smile at you but hardly make you smile...always beg for your help, but never there when you need them the most...

Rasulullah s.a.w. - our beloved prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h - also told us about the meaning of a true friendship:

"None of you will have faith till he wishes for his (Muslim) brother what he likes for himself."
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

I pray that you and me will try our best to develop this true friendship in our life..and believe me...you'll be happy, insya Allah...
